Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 & SBS 2008 ?????

I am getting an error trying to install the client x64 version of FEP2010.

"Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 cannot be installed on your operating system"

Your version of the Windows operating system is not supported by this program.

Error code: 0x8004FF04

I was successful in installing it on Windows 2008 x86,  Just not SBS2008.   Prior version of Forefront Client Security ran oin SBS2008

WHAT IS UP???

Hi,

As far as I know, the FEP client is not supported on Windows SBS http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff823900.aspx

Well this seems dumb... Why would MS not make it work with SBS... I guess I will have all of my clients go buy something else... Just when I had been bragging on FEP and now this pretty much makes it seem not well thought out....  Thanks MS

Totally agree.  We can deploy FEP to all their desktops but not the SBS server?  It just doesn't make sense. Most of the other SBS anti-virus solutions come with a console and deploy to all the desktops (as is to be expected with a SBS aware product).  So by not supporting the SBS server, it opens up the real possibility of another AV solution (why have two products when you can have one?).

Does Microsoft have any anti-virus solution for SBS 2008? or is there any work around to install the FEP Client 2010? the question has been posted year and a half, Microsoft still has no solution?

There is no Microsoft AV solution for SBS 2008 nor SBS 2011. Microsoft recommend to go to a third-party solution http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2663776

This might be a moot point now, but, guys read the article.  It doesn't work on SBS 2008 ESSENTIALS.  It works fine on Standard etc

Have you tried installing System Center Endpoint Protection instead?
