Forced 8.1 install

I came home to Window 8.1 installation in progress when I did not tell it to install. I am very upset as not only did this waste a good hour of my day but I did NOT want 8.1 on my computer (I remarked no every other day when it asked). I have read a lot of other forum about 8.1 forcing install on peoples computers. I would like to know what Microsoft is going to do about this. Personally I am very upset at the way windows 8 works all together and would like a copy of windows 7. I do not want my pictures on the cloud. I do not want to link my computer to my email address and I don't like installs being done on my computer without my permission. Other than sending me a version of windows 7 I have no other options or ideas for I was given none. Please respond with either a conformation that you are willing to use my idea or have another solution. Windows is becoming very intrusive and I find it disconcerting.

A very concerned customer

Jacob

8.1 is being pushed out to all users.  AFAIK I do not see "your idea" care to tell us more?  Microsoft is also (currently) doing the same thing to win 10 users.

If you use a local login for Windows 8.1, you won't have your pictures in the cloud or link your computer to your email address. Even with a Microsoft login, you can control what gets sent to One Drive (the cloud).

Hi,

You meant your system upgrade from Windows 7 to 8.1 automatically? As far far I know, Windows 7 user need to pay for Windows 8.1 upgrade, that's to say Windows 7 won't be upgrade to Windows 8.1 by free and automatically.

On the other hand, since Windows 8.1 already install, if you do need to use Windows 7, you need to make clean install. However, in my opinion, now Windows 8.1 is already a mature system, stable and efficient, it deserves you have a try.
