I have setup where the users are consistantly unable to access their shared data until the data is first accessed through Windows Explorer. The users have laptops and will shut them down and take them off site. When the laptops are powered up they are unable to see the mapped drives since they are not connected to the network. When the laptops are brought back while in sleep mode and placed on the dock, they can then be woken up but the drive will still display as offline and the application they use that access the mapped drive will fail since Windows says the drive is unavailable. The drive can be accessed using Windows Explorer without any issue and once they are accessed the software will see the drive as online and the data will be available. Is there away to force Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) to poll the mapped drives when coming out of sleep? I do not what to run a batch file or script to do this because creating a shortcut to the drive (P in this case) would be just as simple.

Hi, Firstly, please let us know when you wake up your computer, does the mapped drive exist in Computer? Does it contain a red x in its icon? Meanwhile, based on my research, please try the following: 1. Please refer to Create a shortcut to (map) a network drive and make sure that you have selected Reconnect at logon. 2. Please search Device Manager in Start Menu. Navigate to Network adapters, and in the properties of your network adapter, please click Power Management and unselect Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power and see how it works. 3. Please refer to Mapped Drive Connection to Network Share May Be Lost and run net config server /autodisconnect:-1 in command prompt and see how it works. Hope this helps. The drives will remain mapped and contain a red "X". Clicking on that drive will force Windows to check the drive and see it as online. Once the OS sees the drive as online the software will then work. I have created a script that will reconnect the drive when they login but this runs at login not when the system wakes. Changing the device setting makes no chnage since the system is not connected to the network prior to goign to sleep. If the device goes to sleep while connected to the network it wakes with the drives still connected. I do not want to run a script since clicking the drive under Computer will connect and allow everything to work. I am looking to force Windows to check the drive when Waking from sleep. Is this possible? Timmy
