Font Viewer in Win7 Home Premium problem showing fonts
I'm new to running Windows 7 and when I first started looking at the fonts in 'font viewer' (using extra large icons), I noticed a lot (10%) of them show some non-English characters or the same 3 math symbols in the little folder icon. Yet when I click on the font to preview it, the font is English and valid. A-Z etc. This is a font like SnowDrift.ttf. Other programs have no issues seeing the proper character set. NexusFont, Printers Apprentice, Word 2010, etc. Its just this font viewer in windows 7 home premium.

There are not any issue. The non-English characters do not mean that the fonts are not for English. It is just a sample view. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I guess I'm not explaining it right. The first few 50 or more fonts are hidden so they are grayed out. And they have odd looking fonts so I guess they are not english fonts. Great. But if I view them, they are just normal fonts in an English alphabet. And they show that way in word too. Then the 'show' fonts that are in black should show Abg preview in the folder. But about 20 of them show the same 3 characters "∑√≠" as a font same. Not Abg. If I click on those I again see regular font and letters displayed. And again in Word, the font looks good. As a follow up, I've contacted Dell as they are OEM for the windows software and they think its a bug in the OS. They "say" that they found a good number of references to complaints from others about this. I'm still waiting for 2 friends that have Win7 64bit to get home from vacation to go over an look at their system personally. Anyway I appreciate your input.
