Following upgrade to Win 7 x64 from Vista x86 LAN connectivity broken
I have a Marvell Yukon Gigabit adapter on an ASUS P5NSLI motherboard. Following a clean install of Win 7 (replacing a working Vista x86) I have no network. Downloaded latest x64 driver and installed. Still no joy.Symptoms: Local Area Connection "Unidentified Network" with no internet access. Hardware properties reports "This device is working properly." Diagnosis recommends resetting the router, but a) this does not change anything, and b) the router is working for other machines connected to it, wired and wireless. I can access the router from a browser, using its IP address from another system, but not from the upgraded workstation.ipconfig /all reports a bizarre IPv4 address of 169.254.150.221 (should be 192.168.1.2 or 3), DHCP enabled. Also reports "Media disconnected" for media state.Since there is no web access from that system, I can't check for updates, etc.Any suggestions would be welcome.Note that nothing physically changed between the time the system was running normally with Vista x86 and the startup of Win 7. The cable connecting the workstation to the router is a short Cat 5e. Have tried a different cable with no change in the result.

Thanks for the reply, Tom. No joy on the /renew, because the system couldn't connect to the DHCP server (the router). I've tried various netsh options, disabled and re-enabled the Marvell adapter, all of what I'd consider the "usual suspects" plus a few sugggestions I found in various forum threads. I have perfect connectivity through the router, both hardwire and wireless, from my testing laptop, so I've eliminated everything at this point but the adapter itself (or its driver).I'm still looking for options, but am going to try a discreet NIC and disable the onboard adapter to see if that makes a difference.

Hi, Based on my research on Windows 7 Compatibility Center, I find that the Marvell Yukon Gigabit adapter does not list. I suggest you contact the manufacturer support to check whether it is compatible. Meanwhile, replacing a NIC card is a good workaround to eliminate the cause. Please test the issue as soon as possible and let us know the result. If the issue persists, please assign a static IP address for a test. 1) Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) and press Enter. 2) Right click on the connection that you use for the local connection, and then click "Properties". 3) Click to select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", and then click "Properties". 4) Please manually assign the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and the DNS settings referring to the settings of the router or the good computer. Thanks, Novak
