Folders in Vista set to Read only
I don't know how this happened, but it was very random. When I go to the properties on a folder the read only box is checked with a blue box. If I uncheck it and hit ok and open it up again it is still there. The files inside the folders aren't read only though. It causes a problem as when I try to save something from Mozilla firefox I get an error that reads, "could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder. Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location." I've tried several things and nothing is helping. What can I do to fix this?

Hi, Thank you for posting your question to Microsoft TechNet Forum. Read-only feature is only applied to files in folder, folder doesnt obtain this property. For more information about the Read-only attributes of the folder, please visit the following website. You cannot view or change the Read-only or the System attributes of folders in Windows Server 2003, in Windows XP, or in Windows Vista Perform the method listed in above website to change the Read-only attributes of the folder and see if the issue persists. Meanwhile, this issue may also be caused by browser. Please take the following suggestions. 1. Did this error message appear while you saved a file to another location? If the issue only occurred with this folder, what is the location of this folder? Have you tried to save other files to this folder? There also might be the problem of the file. 2. Open the same website using Internet Explorer, and save files to the same folder, then see if the issue occurs. If the issue doesn't occur, you may need to reset Mozilla Firefox settings. Otherwise, if the issue persists, please continue the step. 3. Manually copy a file to this folder, and see if it can be pasted in this folder. 4. Check security settings about this folder, make sure that you have the permission to modify this folder. If you have any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me know. Thanks. Hope this helps.
