Folders containing JPG Pictures have disappeared from My Picutres. Windows 7
Folders containing JPG Pictures have disappeared from My Pictures in Windows 7. The OS was upgraded from Vista to Win7 4 months back. The problem occurred yesterday. When lost folders are searched with Folder Name, they appear in the list, when clicked to open it prompts Error Message that the Folder has been Moved or deleted. Since user does not remember the Picture Names, so cant search by name. Tried searching by *.JPG but it still wont show the pics. Just shows the default pics of Windows. Checked Recycle Bin also, checked the Hidden mode. What could be the problem. Please note that windows are not password protected & desktop opens directly with power Button.

If no such file was found, it might be a permission problem. Windows does not search in folders, that are not accessible for the user. Also check c:\users folder for user profiles. Also: Did user means My pictures folder or Start menu -> Pictures (library)? Users can add their own folders to libraries including folders from removable/network storage :) If files were removed, you could find some traces of removed files using 3rd party tools like Recuva (which is free), which might also help with data recovery.

Hi, In this situation, you could try to use previous version of files, if you accidentally delete or rename a file or folder, you can restore a shadow copy of that file or folder, but you need to know the location that the file or folder was saved to. To restore a file or folder that was deleted or renamed, follow these steps: 1. Open Documents by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Documents. 2. Click the arrow next to Folders at the bottom of the left pane. 3. In the Folders list, open the folder that contained the file or folder that was deleted or renamed. 4. Right-click somewhere in the folder (without selecting a file or folder), and then click Restore previous versions. 5. Double-click a previous version of the folder that contains the file or folder you want to restore. (For example, if a file was deleted today, choose a version of the folder from yesterday, which should contain the file.) 6. In the folder, drag the file or folder that you want to restore to another location, such as your desktop or another folder. More information please refer to: Previous versions of files: frequently asked questions But, data loss is another scenario. It’s possible that the files may lost and corrupted which cannot be retrieved. Hope it helps.
