Is there a way to password protect certain folders in Windows 7, so that they cannot be opened without a password. Windows 7 is Awesome! By the way, I dont want them hidden, only password protected, Thanks

You can right click the folders you want to keep private, click properties, click security and assign levels of privacy there. Hope that helps.

Assuming you have a password protected user acount, you can rightclick any folder, and use the Properties, General tab, Advanced button to encrypt the contents. Windows does not have a built in way to assign individual passwords to individual folders.Rating posts helps other users Mark L. Ferguson MS-MVP

Hi, Agree with Mark L, Windows 7 doesnt native support assigning individual passwords to individual folders. You can choose a third party security software. Thanks.
