Folder Redirection won't work because Group Policy Client will not start
I have just set up a domain using SBS2008. Everything is working fine. Part of why I wanted to set this server up is to redirect my documents and ____ using redirected folders. so I apply the settings and redirect everything, but it's not working. When I log into my client computer now, instead of group policy taking care of everything, I get a little pop up notification in my tray "Group policy could not be applied, check event log for detail, blah blah"In my event log, I have this.Log Name: ApplicationSource: Microsoft-Windows-WinlogonDate: 10/7/2009 6:13:18 AMEvent ID: 6000Task Category: NoneLevel: WarningKeywords: ClassicUser: N/AComputer: my.computer.hereDescription:The winlogon notification subscriber <GPClient> was unavailable to handle a notification event. So, I go to check my services, and group policy client is on "automatic", not started, and all the buttons to start it and stop it or whatever are greyed out.I've spent two hours googling, and everyone who has had this problem sounds like they don't even know what group policy is, and then the people who try to help them are just like "whelp, I have no idea".I've tried running updates, restarting the computer, logging out and in a million times, running GPUpdate /force (fails, and tells me to view a results file. when I review results file, I get "access denied"???) nothing seems to work. This is a relatively fresh copy of windows 7 too, I just installed about 1.5 weeks ago.any ideas?

In general situation the status of Group Policy Client service should be Start, the start mode should be Automatically. We cannot stop it manually so all the buttons should be grayed out. You may use the following command to check which policy is not applied. gpresult /z > %userprofile%\desktop\gpresult.txt After running the command, please open the file gpresult.txt on Desktop. Check detail information from this file.Arthur Xie - MSFT
