Folder.jpg no longer in use?
I have a rather large media library that includes several hundred music albums. Prior to Windows 7 build 7048 in Medium/Large folder view in explorer, explorer would use the Folder.JPG to display as the folder icon. Is this no longer the case? The problem is still evident in RC build 7100.

If you are using any build other than the official Windows 7 Build 7000, we cannot help you.Unauthorized builds, such as 7048, are unsupported and should not be used.Carey Frisch

Actually I'm running RC 7100 and the problem still exists .

Actually I'm running RC 7100 and the problem still exists . As Carey said, at this point in time, until the RC is released officially, support won't be available. The official stand on this can be found here. That's the problem with getting ahead of the curve and downloading torrents. The rest of us are still using build 7000 and we're not on the same page. The RC is due to be released tomorrow for those with TechNet Plus and MSDN subscriptions (assuming those with Connect will likewise get it then, but I could be wrong). The rest of the world will get their chance on May 5th. Until then, there's nothing more we can do.

Clearly this thread is not intended for those running build 7000. The copy of 7100 I have came straight from Microsoft, not a torrent site. I was simply wondering if anyone knew anything about this potential issue. If you don't have a response related to the question, please don't bother posting.

Clearly, you didn't read my post fully. To reinterate...The RC has not officially been released to anyone, except maybe the TAP program members. As such, this is NOT the appropriate forum for discussing build 7100. If you are indeed a TAP program member, you should have access to other resources for reporting bugs and asking questions. Please feel free to post your questions and issues there. You're much more likely to get answers that are relevant to your question.Until the RCis officially released and in our hands, you're NOT likely to get any other response from anyone in this forum.NONE of us herehave a clue yetas to what the problemyou're describing is. Any answer we could give would likely amount to nothing more than wild speculation.

Once again, your input has nothing to do with the question at hand. Please stop wasting my, as well as the other forum members', time.

No, he is right, the rules are very strict on this -- you can only talk about builds that have been released to the general public . At the moment, about 9pm GMT April 29th, 2009, the only such build is the public beta -- build 7000 . The RC will be discuss-able when it is released. Final. About your problem: just open the folder's properties, go to customize and select the picture to show in the icon -- that'll manually tell Windows to show that picture in the folder's icon. I'd like to actually do something good and/or valuable about it, but at the moment I'm just stuck giving out suggestions for everything :P

deronec - Vague? Today is still April 29th by my calendar. As it stands at the moment, the only people who have access to the RC are those in the TAP Gold program and maybe a few other select parties - and of course the folks inside Microsoft. That and those who have been impatient and downloaded the 7100 build by way of torrent. As it is, not even the MSDN and TechNet Plus people have it yet- they'll get first crack at it sometime TOMORROW after Microsoft releases it. I hope that's clear enough...

derosnec - And the folks involved that closely with Microsoft's Beta program no doubt have their own private channels to discuss issues and report bugs.
