Flash drive isn't Auto Playing
I want my flash drive to AUTO PLAY on Windows 7 Enterprise. Whenever I insert a drive, it will just add the drive letter and I have to go click on it. My auto play settings in control panel are enabled. Why isn't it auto playing? Any ideas?

Windows 7 has disabled autoruns due to the security problems. So much malware has been spread by it, Microsoft had to disable it.Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)!

Could it be a group policy setting overriding the local setting?I know our enterprise wide policy is to disable auto-play since this is a strong vector for virus/trojan introduction to an otherwise secure network.Might want to contact your IT folks and see if they are the ones keeping the feature disabled.DAS

Are you able to link me to where Microsoft states that? I always hated Autorun and want to disable it. For once I need it enabled to test out something and I can't. Very frustrating.

According to what I see in article I found about autorun. I should still be seeing an AutoPlay icon with 2 choices. I am not getting this pop up at all. It just gives it a drive letter and doesn't prompt me.

On every other Windows 7 enterprise machine I have here. I plug in the drive and it prompts me for 2 options (Autoplay). This machine doesn't. There must be a setting somewhere to correct this on this machine.

You probably have messed it up badly mucking around. Best is to start over and stop messing with the settings you should not be adjusting until you understand them.Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)!

Someone may have changed Registry to disable this function. I suggest you refer the following article to resolve this issue.
