Firewall file sharing property is modified at start-up
Hi, I configure the firewall (windows 7 home premium) to disable file and printer sharing for public network connections. But at start-up it is modified and the firewall enables file sharing for public network. What could be the reason? What should I do to detect the software component responsible for the firewall configuration change? Xavier

There are some tweaks you'll undoubtedly make as you use the local and network machines and resources, but the basics don't really change from this initial setup. After using SFS for a period of time you find that you spend more time than you'd like shuffling files between shared and non-shared folders, or that the security it provides isn't sufficient for your situation, it might be time to look into NTFS Permission Sharing and Active Control Lists based on the Windows 2000 style file permissions. Unlike SFS where it's pretty hard to screw things up, NTFS permission style sharing can be mucked up by a seasoned professional with the greatest of ease, but it does provide a level of security and control that Simple File Sharing was never intended to offer or duplicate.

Hi, This issue can occur if certain software need communicate to network at startup and enable File and Printer Sharing for public network connections. To troubleshoot the issue, please perform a Clean Boot to check the result. If the issue does not occur in this mode, you can narrow down the cause. Meanwhile, you can view the Firewall log via the following article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753781(WS.10).aspx Thanks, Novak
