Firewall doesn't tell me when it block program
Hi, I am having trouble with Vista's firewall. I have outbound blocking enabled, which works a bit too well. To be more specific it blocks everything, antivirus, windows update etc. So I know how I can go into advanced features and allow one specific executable. But sometimes it is not obvious which one to take. My antivirus for example has12 exe files and to allow all of them is tedious and painful. I have 'Warn me if program gets blocked' enabled, but it doesn't work, so if something is blocked vista says nothing. I usually just get an error from the software itself. All I would like to have is for vista to tell me when it blocks an exe and for me to be able to allow this program to connect in an easy way. Anybody an idea how to do this? Thanks, Lars

You will either need a different firewall . like Microsoft Once care, or learn what ports you need, like 53 for dns, 80/443 for web. That woud let you surf and find resources, and allow web updates to your AV program
