1. Is a Security Suite installed that includes a firewall or is just an antivirus program installed ?2. Is the antivirus subscription current; has it been kept up to date in regards to it's definitions ?3. Was anything detected the last time the system was scanned with it ?Using Internet Explorer, please see if the system can be scanned here - Windows One Care Protection Center MowGreen Windows Expert IT Pro - Consumer Security

Making a bunch of assumptions here -- that it is XP Pro and it was once joined to a Domain -- Your problem is almost identical to another recent problem. See if that solution works for you:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/xpsecurity/thread/1c185a2e-7ac5-4cf3-8972-9d465620d922HTH, JW

I dont know what you mean about a Security Suite....I have Nortons 2011. It is up to date. And nothing was detected the last time i did a full scan. The only thing that was a little odd was a week or so ago i was told that someone tried to get into my account so I changed my password. Since then the firewall has been off and i cant get it back on. Everytime I try and do a search on IE i get taken someplace else other than the page i am clicking on.I use Windows XP.This is a home/personal computer.
