Firepass client & Windows 7
Sinceinstalling Windows 7 over Vista Business w/ latest service pack, my VPN connection using Firepass client no longer works. In IE8, or IE8 in "compatibility mode", the browser window just sits there chugging away on "Checking Client". When I hit a hyperlink that says "If your browser or browsers settings do not support active components, or if downloading and installation fails, click here to continue", I get a message saying I don't have a firewall installed and running. Well, of course, I DO have a firewall installed and running. Any thoughts about what's going on and what to do about it would be greatly appreciated.

F5 has issued a code release for their FirePass SSLVPN to support Windows7 clients. This code is currently available as a hotfix for v6.03, and can be requested from F5 Support. The hotfix gets applied to the FirePass device itself, so the FirePass must be running v6.03HF4 in order to offer full support for Win7 clients. Detailed information can be given by F5 Support.RyanF5

Because I work remotely, our support contractors (Perot/Dell) will provide only very limited service, and F5's support is closed to end users, it seems. For the past few days, I've been getting"Error downloading required files. The supplied handle is the wrong type for the requested operation." when I try to access Citrix through our Firepass interface and Firepass kicks me back to its homepage. Win7 Pro 64-bit. Any help would be oh so gratefully appreciated. Tim Spofford Portland, Oregon

It took me a while to find on F5's massive website but they have a version of the Firepass client (version 6.1.0) that (they say) is compatible with Win 7 and IE 8. I'm downloading now from here ( https://downloads.f5.com/esd/serveDownload.jsp?path=/firepass/firepass_v5.x/6.1.0/english/release/&sw=FirePass&pro=firepass_v5.x&ver=6.1.0&container=Release&desc=Release&file=FP-6.10-20091009.tar.gz.enc ) and will reply back if it works for me. Note: this file seems incredibly large compared to the one I downloaded for the non-working version, I hope I'm not getting the full server version and only the client...

This thread showed up in my alerts for some reason, so even though it is a bit old I thought I would sum up the latest for W7 and IE support on F5's FirePass SSLVPN. If you are having issues connecting to FirePass and are wondering if the issue is compatibility, it is key to understand what version of FirePass your organization is running. Please ask your IT department for that information. Windows7 has been supported since version 6.1 and all 7.x versions (http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/10000/000/sol10053.html) IE9 has been supported since versions 6.1.0: HotFix-HF-610-5 or version 7.0 HotFix-HF-70-3 (http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/12000/000/sol12037.html) Make sure your FirePass is running these versions or higher. You can find more compatibility information at http://support.f5.com. Ryan F5

I would vote this as "helpful" but I retired a year and a half ago so (a) I don't have access to test it, and (b) any help is a bit too late to do any good.
