Hi,

I was trying to add a fingerprint to my account in Windows 8.1. Upon swiping my right index finger during the registration process using the fingerprint scanner, I got this message:

"That fingerprint is already registered for another account. Please use a different finger."

Please do note that I had just done a clean install of Windows 8.1 on this laptop, and with my previous Windows 8.1 installation on the same laptop, I was also using fingerprint login with the same right index finger.

So far, I have only used this Live account for logging in to my Windows 8.1 laptop, and nowhere else, so rightfully the fingerprint should have been registered to this account (although I could not find any traces of the fingerprint registration anywhere either)

Is there a way to "unregister" the right index fingerprint for this Live account? I could not find this option anywhere.

If this helps, I'm using a Toshiba Portege R830.

You can type "fingerprints" in the start screen or go to PC Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options

Normally you now can manage the known fingerprints

I have done that, but no fingerprints show up.

You can try to clear the fingureprint data in BIOS to see what's going on.
