I have a HP EliteBook 8530w running 32bit Windows 7 for the longest time my fingerprint scanner has worked fine for me to log in and everything and then all of a sudden it stops. i recently installed ubuntu side-by-side with windows 7 but i'm pretty sure it stopped working beforehand. In the biometric control panel my fingerprint scanner is there and says its working fine and my fingerprint is enrolled. i have reinstalled the drivers from windows update as well as from hp support. The strange thing is though, is that when i swipe a finger that i have enrolled it says "your fingerprints have not been enrolled for authentication" but when i swipe a random finger or someone else swipes it says "there is no match in the fingerprint store" so it knows its a proper finger, but won't let me log in?

so i installed http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/WIN7-BETA.html#upek and it ended up working, strange i had to install lenovo software but i heard UPEK was the best fingerprint software anyways
