Files hidden but still on hard drive help
Dear all I have lost all of my files!!! I know they are their as when I click properties on my computer I know it is full. I very stupidly followed some instructions that someone gave me that were supposed to access some files regarding computer game to
overcome a glitch in the game. after following the instructions everything just disappeared. I can find the folders but they are all empty ie it says they 're not accessible. I haven't downloaded any malware or clicked on to anything on the internet just followed
these instructions:see following

"........Hey, I have windows 7 too so that makes it easier What you do is: You open “Computer” than you go to C:—> Users—> your username—> AppData—> Roaming—> WB Games—> LEGO HarryPotter,
If you don’t see “roaming” or wb games or appdata, right-click—> properties—> check the box in front of “hidden” and don’t click the properties menu away, but just say OK if something else pops up (yes
to apply to subfolders and folders or something like that) folders will disappear, than after that’s done you deselect the hidden button, so everything appears again but also previously hidden folders. Once my AppData folder was hidden In LEGO HarryPotter
folder, you’ll see 4 files, and one of them is called pcconfig. If you scroll upwards here you’ll see what “Fix details” put there, open notepad and copy that into there. Then save as pcconfig and copy it over to the LEGO harry potter
folder—> it will ask if you want to replace—> say yes After you’ve done this, click it away and start the game and go to the level. Before you cast at the sneezing statue, open a second player. Let him stand somewhere else so the window
is split. Then afterwards, you go stand near the side of where you go up to the statue, you cast at the statue but quickly you must jump away so you can’t see it on your screen. THe first time this might not work, but it could also work, otherwise you
do the pcconfig thing again and try it again in the level. When I had once came to sneezing statue, I had the same problem, nothing would work, not even lower the screen resolution. Then I saw something about the pcconfig and the jumping away thing and I tried
it, and it didn’t work immediately but the second time it worked. The only down part was that when I was at some other part in the level, something was supposed to shatter but it didn’t so I got stuck there and I had to do it all over again. After
two tries it worked :D and I completed the game shortly after, with only one freeze somewhere in the goblet of fire ;p Good luck and tell me if it worked or not! ....." __________________________________________________________
I've prepared this letter on a document file and in the documents file deop down list I could access the last set of documents I created and yet I can't fins them in my actual documents folder. So everything is obviously still on my computer . I did a systems
restore that seemed to get some of my desk top back but it didn't match the desk top that I had on the date i fixed it from as some of the files are still missing. I don't' think the person was acting out of malice and it could just be that I followed the
instruction incorrectly Pleas Helps I don't know what to do. I have lost all of the work related to the art course that I'm doing to i just can't access it and I have a deadline in 3 weeks Please HELP!!! I need step by step instruction please, I'm not sure
when you click properties which bit is supposed to have a tick by it or just have the box highlighted in blue Desperate :-(

Restart the computer and press F8 after the BIOS but before Windows starts. Select repair options and then select system restore. Then select a point in time to restore the computer to prior to the changes that you made.
Be patient, it will take some time, but that should recover the computer and provide access to the files again.
Have you created any Complete PC Backups in case of a catastrophic event or the system restore doesn't work?

Its a good idea not to mess with the file system like that
after the restore if it works, run CHKDSK to make sure there is no problem with the file system

Hi mariainuk,
As Nano Warp replied, a system restore is a good choice for you if you have the backup.
If you don't have the backup, I'm afraid you need a reinstallation of your system.
