Files disappear after denied moving of files from Windows 8.1 Pro to Phone

I have tried to move some files from one folder to another. Source folder is on Windows 8.1 Pro and destination is on Note 4.  In the destination there were already same names as in source. When I attempted to move the files, I was prompted for action because of the matching names and I selected Dont move. Then moving stopped, normally preventing files to be copied on the phone, but in this moment they disappeared from the source folder, therefor failing to "No files will be changed". I tried same thing on other android phone but with same result. Searched for the files in all volumes and temporary folders for both content and file names, but with no success.
I tried the reverse action to move from phone to PC but then files remained in the source after pressing Dont move...
I've searched for this issue in TechNet and other Microsoft forums but with no success. Is this a normal behavior during such a moving operation or I am missing something?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

PS I have images for proof but at the moment I cant upload them atm.

Hi

Since we dont have android device for test in our environment, we cannot reproduce this. But As I know, most cell phone manufacturer requires certain software such as ITunes for file transmission from computer to cell phone. And we suggest following their recommendations.  In my opinion, it is possible that this issue occurs when windows thought the file transmission has been succeeded since cell phone has different design from USB storage. Especially when you canceled during the file transmission.
