Files Keep Reverting After Reboot
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and all was fine until I tried to install a DiVX Codec that must've been corrupted. After that my PC would phantom 98% of my physical memory. I used system restore to a week earlier, and ever since whenever I start my computer, random configuration files have been altered. For instance, my saved passwords for FireFox, my Video configuration for CoD:MW2, and other files that I saved over previously; which are reverting back to their old state after I reboot. (Or shut down and turn on. Not just restart.) This is being quite pesky since I have a really long really complex password for one of my Usernames, and it deleted the password... it also keeps reverting my settings for my game, so I have to change them every few times I reboot my PC.

Hi, Since it worked previously, a quick solution is to run System Restore and get back to the previous status when the issue didn’t occur. If it persists, please also try to boot the system to Safe Mode or Clean Boot environment and see how it works: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 Hope this helps.
