File transfer betwen Windows7 Laptop and Windows XP Home PC
I'm trying to get my W7 laptop to transfer files to my WindowsXP PC over a home network using a Belkin G wireless router. Just have avg. computer skills. So if you get too technical I won't have a clue what you're talking about. Thanks for any help that you can give. I've been emailing the files to myself and opening them on the XP machine. Must be an easier way to do this.1 person needs an answerI do too

Its real easy to do and if your trying to transfer large amount of files you may be better of using an Ethernet cable as it offers faster speeds. 1. The first thing to do is to make sure they are both on the same network, if you are using the wireless this should already be done. 2. It will be easier to disable the firewalls temporarily or set exceptions in the firewall rules. 3. As they are both different operating systems you will need to make sure they are in the same WORKGROUP. In Windows 7 hold the WINkey and pause-break> Advanced system settings > Computer name > Change> and change to the same as Windows XP . Dont use the windows 7 homegroup4. Make sure they are both set to allow file sharing http://www.butterscotch.com/tutorial/How-To-Get-Windows-7-And-Windows-XP-Talking-On-The-Network The following video should make it easier to understand.
