File sharing between w7 computers
Hi, Thanks for the reply. I did this, and now I can see only those 4 folders: Documents, music, pictures and videos. I tried with another folder, by right clicking on it and selecting share with homegroup, but did not help. Am I missing something?

Hi, Small update: I managed to share new folders on the homegroup, but I noticed I cannot share a folder if it's on desktop, is it normal? Thanks!

Hello, I have 3 pc's with the same version of windows 7 ultimate, build 7601 and I'm trying to setup shares between them. At the start when I was trying to access a pc from another one, I was asked for a username/password (I don't have passwords setup on none of them). I managed to disable this, and at the moment I can access the shares just from one pc. From the other, with the same settings, I can't. Does anyone have a step-by-step procedure to configure file sharing in w7? This seems more difficult than it used to be in XP, don't know why. The message I am receiving now is: windows cannot access \\minipc\d, you do not have permissions to access.... Where do I set up permissions? Each pc has a different user, with no password. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

As all the computers are using Windows 7, it’s easier to set up a Homegroup rather than a Workgroup. ON ONE COMPUTER Go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Homegroup > Create a homegroup > Select the folders you want > Next and make a note of the password that will be used by other computers to join the Homegroup. ON THE OTHER COMPUTERS Go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Homegroup > Join now and type in the password.
