And the contents of my first message: I've read several posts about slow browsing of the network on Windows 7 but this one is slightly different although may have the same root cause. Trying to save-as with Word (or any app) to the network and the network view only shows two computers: http://www.picpaste.com/BrowseNetwork1.PNG PC019 is the PC I'm on, PC008 is just another random computer on the network. But there are loads of computers on the network. The following view appears in Windows Explorer network view: http://www.picpaste.com/BrowseNetwork2.PNG Any ideas? It occurs on every Windows 7 PC we've built. Older Windows XP systems are fine. Cheers, Rob. PS. I know the first screenshow shows Foxit Reader but the problem occurs with all apps. It's the generic Windows file dialog control that's the problem

Hi Rob, On your Win 7 clients check out the Network Config settings. By default systems use the Public network profile which has the firewall turned on & Network Discovery Disaled. If you change this to a Domain or Home or a custom Profile as needed. Confirm on the Win7 PC's that you have Network Discovery Enabled, that's the first thing I would check & if you want to use shares Enable the Sharing as well so it will allow SMB traffic. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Enable-or-disable-network-discovery http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-is-network-discovery

It's on the domain network and discovery is turned on. If you browse the network from Windows Explorer, all computers do eventually appear. But on the file dialogs, only a couple are displayed. It's like the file dialog is trying to browse computers and gives up after a few seconds whereas the network browse from Explorer hangs in there for much longer. Cheers, Rob.

Hi Rob, Are the computers appears in Save As dialog box the same one displays every day on each Windows 7 computers which have this issue? Also, please temporary disable or uninstall the firewall to check this issue. Access Clean Boot to check the issue. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, you can continue to narrow down which entry is causing the issue. Hope this helps.
