File permission keeps forcing Everyone Full Control
I have a new network attached storage that I am configuring file permissions on. I am running into a strange problem with Windows 7 Home Premium 64, that I don't see on my Windows XP Pro computer. Here are the steps to create the problem: Create a folder on the share Edit the Folder Security with Windows Select "Everyone" and only set "Read & execute", "List folder contents" and "Read" Hit "Ok" After hitting OK in Windows 7 I see "Full Control" still selected. I've even attempted to do similar operations in the "Advanced" settings, but something keeps adding back Full Control to the Everyone user. In Windows XP, the steps actually work and leave the Everyone user with only the selected permissions. What is causing this behavior in Windows 7? How can I control it? Thank you.

My Windows 7 shows "Home Network". To clarify further, the NAS is a Netgear ReadyNAS NV+, which runs a Linux OS. Are you implying that these network types alter the behavior of how permissions are applied? If so, is there documentation on this? I will look for it and try them out shortly.
