File association
Hi!Since Windows Mail is not available in Windows 7, I tried opening .eml files with Ms Outlook 2007. But instead of opening my .eml document, it open Outlook and put file as an attachment. So I tried going in the file associations program to put Word by default but I can't. The "Always use... " box is grayed so I can't tell Windows to remember to use Word. I'm logged as administrator...

Hi BiduleXWord does not perform well with the format of the.eml file format. In Windows 7 programs such as email, photo editing and others were left out so that users could have more choice of which programs to install and use. These Microsoft programs are still free, but you need to download and install them separately. The Windows Live Mail is the replacement for Windows Mail and the interface is very similar to Windows mail. They can be downloaded at the Windows Live Essentialswebsite.Click the download button on that web page. You will be given a choice of which Windows Live programs to install.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

Hi Ronnie, I have Outlook 2007 running with Win7(64) and it used to open files with .eml extension by displaying the message. Then the file association got lost and I tried to associate it with outlook by using a right click on an .eml file. Unfortunately there is no more advanced button in Win7 with which I used to able to fix this when using WinXP. Is there any way to get Outlook 2007 to display the .eml files again instead of attaching them to a new e-mail?
