File access very slow from W7 client to W7 file server
Hi Guys - first posting on Technet ..... I recently built a W7 fileserver for a client and also sold him a new Acer W7 laptop unit. Shares have been mapped to the laptop but while it will display Directories very quickly - file opening & saving from Office XP or Office 2003 - is extremely slow. The old XP fileserver with a client laptop running Vista was fine. any help would be appreciated. Take care Mick

Hi,Here are some suggestions you can try:1. First, please make sure whether the router is fully compatible with Windows 7. Please contact the router support and upgrade firmware.2. Temporarily turn off firewall on Windows 7 machine to check the result. In addition, you can also refer to the link below to troubleshoot the issue. When you copy large files to or from earlier operating systems, the copy operation may be slower than expected on some Windows Vista-based computersThanks,Novak

Novak, I didn't know that Routers could be classed as W7 compatible. I thought that they were just network devices. Can you elaborate a little more for me please?
