File access denied when opened in Windows 7
Hi, When an Excel file on the file server is opened on a Windows XP computer, I can edit the contents and saved the changes without problem. When the SAME Excel file is opened on a Windows 7 computer, I am not able to save changes. The error message I got was "Access denied. Contact your administrator.". Can someone kindly enlighten me why this is so? What have I missed out? Thank you!

Hi, You may refer to the following steps to check your issue accordingly. 1. Temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and Firewall software. 2. Disable SMBv2 to have a test. 3. Try Clean Boot. 4. Check the File's permission, both NTLM permission and shared permission. 5. Whether you have already opened the "share Excel file to multiple persons" option? If not, try to enable it. 6. You may also refer to the following link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee844140(WS.10).aspx Hope this helps, Thank you. Hi, Thank you for the replies from Mr X and Juke Chou. It turns out that this is a "normal" behaviour when you use Office 2007 on Windows 7 because Microsoft has changed the way of how an 2007 Excel file saves changes due to security reason. The workaround is to grant user Modified permission. Delete permission doesn't work anymore. Note that this behaviour occurs only with Office 2007 + Windows 7. Other combinations of Office and Windows versions do not have this issue. Regards.
