File Sharing, IRPStackSize doesn't help.
I have a desktop running XP Pro, SP3. A few months ago, I got a wireless router and added a laptop running Vista to my network. From the XP, I can access folders and files on the Vista laptop. However, from the laptop, I cannot connect to shared folders on the XP. The error I get is the one about "not enough resources". The event log on the XP has the message many people have reported about IRPStackSize being too small. When I went to change it, I found that my XP computer did not have IRPStackSize at all, so I created it as shown in a Microsoft article. First I gave it a value of 12, then increased it to 20 when that made no difference. I still get the same error. Should I increase it more, or is something else going on here? Thanks, Randyc1 person needs an answerI do too

I'd like to close this. After posting, I thought, What the heck? and went back and increased the IRPStackSize to 40. Now filesharing works - I can mount network drives from the XP on the Vista laptop. Life is good (for now). Randyc
