File Previous Versions (Shadow Copy)
One of the users I support had an odd issue that ended up being related to file previous versions. He is running Windows 7 Enterprise (32bit) He had edited XML document "A" in notepad and saved it. When he double-clicked the changed XML file "A", opening it in IE, it did not reflect the change that he had made.I opened file "A" using IE from my computer and observed the change he had made. On his machine, I made a copy of the changed file "A" as file "B". When I open file "B" on his machine it reflected the change he had made. But file "A" still showed the original contents. On further investigation, I discovered that there was a previous version of file "A". I ran a disk cleanup deleting all but the most recent system restore point and was able to change file "A" successfully and view the current contents successfully on his machine. It appears as if Windows was always opening the previous copy of the file. Rebooting the pc did not help. Only after purging all previous versions was he able to successfully view the current contents of this file.Anyone have a similar experience with previous versions of files.

I see your logic, but I'd assume first that the issue is with IE's caching (saving a copy of the most recently opened version). If it happens again, I'd suggest pressing Ctrl-F5 to force a refresh. If this was helpful, please vote by clicking the green triangle. If it solves the issue, click Propose as Answer. Thanks!

Hi Shawn, thanks for the reply. During all of my troupleshooting I deleted IE's cache (temp files, history, cookies, the works) and still had the issue. I also used MS XMLNotePad on that PC. It too showed the old contents of file "A". Once I purged the previous version, the file began behaving correctly. It may be a fluke and never happen again. Thanks again for taking time out of your day to help me out.David
