File History fails when library include folders from external HDD

Hey,

I've been using file history for a while but since I added a folder from my external HDD to my Pictures library it fails to backup my data.

Looking at the event viewer I see an event 201 saying "It is not possible to seek changes in the libraries of users and perform the backup of modified files for configuration C:\Users\erioll\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory\Configuration\Config"

I tried adding the new folder to the exclusion list but nothing changes. I even added the Pictures library to the exclusion list and still get the same error.

Any ideas on how to solve this other than changing my backup solution?

Hey MeipoXu,

Yes I tried both solutions but the problem persists.

For what I could gather the problem is with folders in my external HDD. If I add any folder from my C: drive it works perfectly.

Hi erioll7,

We can logon with another account or create a new account to have a check. There is a possibility that the present user profile has corrupted.

Hey,

I tried with both an Outlook.com and a local account but the problem persists.

Hi erioll,
Please take the following to reconfigure the backup.

1.Move all previous backup files to another folder on the same HDD

2. Deleted the file history config files and re-select  external HDD as the backup drive.
I hope it will work this time.

Best regards
