File Explorer crashes every time I right click one of my drives.

Hi,

Every time i right click any of my drives in "This PC" explorer will freeze up and crash.

Is there anything I can do about this?

The problem could be a problematic third party context menu handler.

The following link has some info and a download to ShellExView which you can use to selectively disable third party context menu handlers to find out a problematic one:

You could try disabling all non-Microsoft context menu handlers and then, if the problem resolves, re-enable them one at a time to see which one was the problem

please download this reg file from my SkyDrive:

http://cid-128fc518635be2dc.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/MS%20Foren/Registry/WER%5E_Explorer_full.reg

and make a double click on the file to import it. If you can't do this, run regedit.exe and import the registry file there!

When the Windows Explorer crashes, Windows Error Reporting Service [1] creates a dmp file under C:\Localdumps. Please upload the dump file (compressed 7z or RAR to reduce the size) to your public Skydrive [2] folder and post the link here. I take a look at the dump with the Debugger, maybe I can see the cause.

After you generated the dumps, download and import this regfile:

http://cid-128fc518635be2dc.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/MS%20Foren/Registry/WER%5E_Explorer_full_uninstall.reg

to stop the dump creation.

Andr

I have had the same issue ever since I "upgraded" to Windows 8.1.  Worked fine before that.  I keep hoping a correction is coming.
