Federation to or from this partner is not allowed

Hi All

About 2 weeks back messages all of a sudden started failing to External contacts and No presence was being displayed.

I removed a GDR SQL update that installed on the front end server and then Presence started working again.

The weird problem now is that we can send some external contacts messages without an issue but a lot are still failing

We are open federated and exchnaged messages with those contacts often but just stopped all of a sudden

I enabled logging and it fails with the below error

Anyone know what could be the cause. the error just states "403 Federation to or from this partner is not allowed" yet we chatted to these contacts the prvious days to the issue.

Hello Veez!

Is the logging that you ran just on the Edge servers? Did you see if there were any other corresponding logs on the Front End servers in the "Lync Server" logs that correspond to the error you time you provided? Also, I know that you just chatted with some of these contacts the other day, but on the off chance that the problem is on their end, have you inquired with the Lync admins at any of the other federated domains, to make sure restrictions are not in place currently?

Hi,

1. Make sure Lync Server update to the latest version.

2. Restart Lync FE Server and Edge Server.

3. Check the federation configuration on Lync Server Control Panel.

4. Check if the federation SRV record correctly on public DNS Server.

Best Regards,
Eason Huang

HI

Take a trace from edge and reproduce the issue and look out for more information through snooper.

Also run Get-CSallowedDomain and see the results

Also you can check if  Enable partner domain discovery is enabled
