MAC client means client for MAC operation system. As you use IPAD, so I assume you talked about the Microsoft Lync 2013 for iPad.
If you meant the Favorite group missing, please sign in your Lync account with Desktop client.
Click option button, select Contacts List tab, select Favorites group under show this information.
