I get the following error trying to start the w32time service... Error 1290: The service start failed since one or more services in the same process have an incompatible service SID type setting. A service with restricted service SID type can only coexist in the same process with other services with a restricted SID type. If the service SID type for this service was just configured, the hosting process must be restarted in order to start this service. I've tried regsvr32 /u w32time.dll and regsvr32 w32time.dll. I've tried rebooting obviously. Any ideas? Platform windows7 64.

I should have also mentioned - I did a w32tm /unregister and w32tm /register (this wipes the registry entries you gave and reinitialises them to defaults). So, I don't think your manual editing of the registry will help. I'm really looking for a better solution than reinstalling the OS. Thanks though.

Only thing I ought to mention incase others have the same problem: My registry value did have %SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe -k NetworkService already so I just deleted and rewrote the last character. It seems the registry edit was picked up on by something after the reboot. I can now start the w32time service correctly. Cheers!
