Failure of Brother Control Center 3 in Win7 x 64
The 2009 forum discussed this problem, with no solution. Here it is a year later, 2010, I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, brother printer mfc8660dn, USB connection, and I have the same failure of control center. Windows "printers and devices" will tell the printer to scan and receive the image, but will not send it to OCR, and is less convenient than the brother control center. The Brother help desk ran through all the options he knew, including altering the value data bit in the registry (entry "enableWIA") from 0 to 1, and gave up. I've installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled the 64-bit brother package8870-INST-WIN7-A.EXE with reboots, with no success. He says it's an OS problem, and I believe him. He says the regedit fix has worked on other customers with the same complaint, but not on mine.Should I try the 32 bit software from brother?HelpJim99w 1 person needs an answerI do too
