Failure configuring windows features, reverting changes???! Well... sort of yes and no. It seemed to install fine, it ran the updates, I installed an antivirus prog and restarted after the update requested it. Since then, all I get is the failure message, restart, failure message loop

So this happened after you installed the anti-virus. Was this an automated installation?

Yes, it's the same one I installed on my laptop and had previously on my desktop. The problem appears to be that it isn't 'configuring' windows after the updates from windows. But obviously I don't know.

If I get you right it is an automated install and this includes an a-v program. You could tryto disable the update portion of the installin your answer file or don't select it during a manual install and if that does't work try excluding the a-v.

I don't know. I guess as much as I hate to do it, I will try to reinstall and just start all over. I can't get into the desktop, and it won't let me do anything in safe mode.

Unfortunately somtimes these issues can only be solved by proccess of elimination whichcan betime consuming. The only thing I can suggest is a clean manual install with no extra programs.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. I hope that I can do it. Thanks for your help... I may be back and probably with the same problem, lol

The same thing happened to my machine after installing AVG Antivirus Software. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/antivirus-partners/windows-7.aspx. It was a clean install before installing the AntiVirus. Removing the Anti-Virus software did not help either so I ended up reinstalling Windows 7.

Are you planning on installing AVG again? Silly question.

I am just going to keep this machine on XP for older programs, as a 'photo album' and maybe hook it up to my tv. When I can build a new i7 rig i will buy W7.
