Fail to install bluetooth driver (Broadcom BCM2070 Blue Tooth 3.0+HS USB Device)

I have got a windows update, Broadcom Corporation Driver update for Broadcom BCM2070 Blue Tooth 3.0+HS USB Device.

I tried to install the update but get error 80070005.

I check the device manager, my bluetooth is not recognized. It is an unknown device. When I click update driver, windows says it can find the driver for  Broadcom BCM2070 Blue Tooth 3.0+HS USB Device but face access deny during installation.

Hi ohnozzy,

Confirm that your device is powered on, if your notebook has such a network switch.

Then try this driver from Broadcom: http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php

Right-click the package and select Run as Administrator.

Success?

I have the same Problem with Windows 8 Pro and the Broadcom BCM 2070.

Bluetooth, WLAN and UMTS doesn`work with WIN 8 anymore. With WIN 7 before it was fine.

Windows 8 Pro offers that Software driver (Broadcom Corporation driver), but after Installation it says "Installation failed".

The driver link from Broadcom ...update.php...  starts, but during operation "Detect Bluetooth device" it stops with the message "Could not start microsoft Bluetooth stack, please reboot your Computer".

Unnecessary to say, that this doesn`t help  :-(

Who can help me?

thx for any assistance.

not sure if it helps, but some time ago I (and some Lenovo users) had serious BT problem

it was caused by Windows Update Service

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprohardware/thread/dc0cdef2-d9c7-497c-98fa-317ef42c9f25

After some weeks I reinstaled W8 and disabled this update.

Thx for that fast reply!  :-)

That seems to be it - but it`seems to be kind of complicate - and I am not a computer specialist.

Is there any way for a "normal" windows user to get rid of this problem?

regards

It has nothing and everything to do with both Windows security settings and Broadcom flawed installation package...  If you want to install broadcom drivers but are failing to do so... use HP installation package instead : http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56501-57000/sp56715.exe

It will work, but don't ask why...  Obviously companies like Broadcom and Atheros, don't have a clue about software packaging, and may have shitty drivers developers as well... That's why, DELL, Lenovo and HP alike repackage/correct/recompile drivers all the time...  But anyway... It's the beautiful result of outsourcing!!!

Thank You for solving this problem, I've been tearing my hair out for days. I will be wary of buying Broadcom products and devices from China in the future! So grateful to have my Bluetooth back.

Regards, Paul

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion dv5-1112es and a Trust Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter  (BCM20702A0). It doesn't work with message "can not start Windows 8 Bluetooth Stack" or similar. After many search I found out http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56501-57000/sp56715.exe driver from UChar0 message. It did not install straight from the installer, but I managed to go deep into the folder where drivers decompressed. As I have w8 32 bits, it was "C:\swsetup\SP56715\Win32". I then executed inst.exe and the installation finished without problem, and now I have my Trust Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter installed and working. Thank you very much!!
