FTP/Users backup
Hi, everybody,I've setup FTP service on my machine (Windows 7 RC) and add several virtual folders into it. Also I've created special group "FtpUsers", grant them access to my machine via FTP but "logon locally" is disabled for users from this group. After that I've added several users to this group. So, my question is can I backup using anything "native" for Windows 7- settings of FTP server (directory listing feature for the root folder, list of virtual folders, rights assignment)- "FtpUsers" group and related settings "logon locally"- list of users from "FtpUsers" group with their passwordsSo, the goal is to get something (file or flder) that I can use after windows reinstall in order to restore described above items. Certain I can use paper and pen to mark everything (except passwords unfortunately), reinstall windows and setup everything again, but it would take too much time.Possible this question is quite easy, but such tasks are new for me.Thanks in advance.

Hello Golovnev,Using Backup and Restore on Windows 7 RC should backup any permissions and groupsset or created by you. Is the network you are doing this on a workgroup or a domain?

Hi,I'm working in workgroup, not in domain. As I know "Backup and Restore" would save much more information that I need, and certain restore it. I suppose that everything from my user folder would be stored as well, but I need only FTP settings and several users to be stored.

Hello Golovnev Arseniy,If a backup is too large then perhaps using Easy Transfer Wizard instead. You can manually choose what to backup and migrate without having to do a system image or backup the whole C: drive.

I've tried to use "Windows easy transfer" for these goals, but it seems that users selection in this tool works some strange... At current moment it allows me to backup my persona account, "IIS APPPOOL\Classic .Net AppPool" and "Shared items". Customization of AppPool shows that I can backup "Program settings" and "windows settings" and no additional information about content of these items. Except that users that were created for FTP access only are out of this list, so I suppose their passwords and relation to group FtpUsers (togather with this group)wouldn't trap into backup. In any case, great thank that you at least try to help me :)

Hello Golovnev,You're welcome, I'm glad I could be of help. If Easy Transfer won't back up exactley what you need then perhaps a system image would do the trick. Beyond that I would suggest a 3rd party application if all else fails.
