FIPS and encryption
On windows servers/workstations when someone refers to FIPS compliant encryption - are they referring to disc encryption, i.e. data at rest - or protocol encryption, i.e. data in transit? Or could it be either, i.e. are there FIPS compliant DaR solution, and FIPS compliant DiT solutions? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIPS_140-2 Excuse my ignornace - but encryption in windows networks seems common now for many compliance schemes so just wanted to check.
