FEP 2010 and Windows 10?

We are unable to get FEP 2010 to install on Windows 10 Enterprise.  When we try to install it, we just get a notification that says the application is not compatible with Windows 10. Nothing appears to show up in the Event Viewer.

Is Microsoft going to release a FEP 2010 update that will make it compatible?  We still have SCCM 2007 R3 and so it is a pretty major undertaking to try to move to SCEP 2012, but we would still like to be able to let some of the IT staff upgrade to Windows 10 so they can test drive it.

I see people saying that we should just use SCCM to manage Windows Defender, but we actually rely on the reports and email alerts from FEP quite a bit. Can we do that if we are just managing Defender?

Windows Defender and FEP/SCEP are very much the same under the hood, it's mainly the branding/UI that's different (and also the Windows Defender definition updates are a separate category from EP in WSUS.) So SCCM will treat it the same regarding reports and alerts.

I tried to look up the most recent info on Windows 10 support in SCCM 2007, but it looks like this might still be the latest:

http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2014/09/30/windows-10-enterprise-management-with-sc-configmgr-and-intune.aspx

"System Center Configuration Manager 2007 (SP2, R2, and R3) we will provide an update to support the management only of Windows 10"

"Management" should include full Defender support.

Edit: This is actually more recent:

"System Center Configuration Manager 2007 (SP2, R2, and R3) support for the management of Windows 10 is coming via a compatibility pack in Q4 2015 (Note: OS and client deployment will not be supported)."
