Extremely slow Start Up with Network Drives
I recently mapped two (D-Link) NAS network drives and since then startup is incredibly slow. It will boot up as normal, show the logon screen, then stop at a black screen for about two or three minutes, and only then enter windows. Is there anyway to delay the connection of the mapped network drives? So that I can just connect to them when I need to use them or have them connect after windows is already up and running?# Thanks

Hi, As a workaround, you can use command to map a drive after Windows running. To map a network drive temporarily: 1. Click Start, type cmd in Start Search bar and press Enter. 2. Type net use x: \\NAS network drive\share name /persistent:no, where x: is the drive letter you want to assign to the shared resource. You also can create a BAT file for this command, when you want to map drive, just double click this BAT file. For your reference: How to connect and disconnect a network drive in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308582/en-us Using Batch Files in Windows NT http://www.microsoft.com/technet/archive/ittasks/maintain/batch.mspx?mfr=true Hope it helps.
