Extremely low internet speed with Windows 7
Hello, I recently upgraded my PC from Vista 32-bit to 64-bit Windows 7. Everything seems to work fine except for one problem, my bandwidth for any sort of Internet use is about 90% reduced from what it was using Vista (from 300-700kbps to around 30-70). I have a desktop PC that uses a wired connection, I use a DSL internet connection, and I have up-to-date drivers for all of my devices and my router. Other devices in the house such as laptops, that do not use Win7, do not have any speed issues. The lowered internet speed includes downloads and uploads, and affects both IE 32-bit and 64-bit as well as Firefox 3, and other non-browser applications such as Steam and iTunes. Here is my hardware and software info: Mobo: Nvidia nForce 680i LT SLI CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4ghz Memory: 2x1GB Corsair DDR2 800 GFX card: Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS Router: Linksys RangeMax Wireless (model WPN824 v3) OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, genuine and activated Antivirus: Microsoft Security Essentials, no other third-party software Browser: Mozilla Firefox 3.5.6 Firewall: Default Windows firewall, no other third-party firewall Here are the troubleshooting steps I have already tried: Running the DSL speed test at speedtest.com, which showed extremely low down/up speeds Resetting the router by turning off the power 5 minutes, and restarting. Turning off power to the PC completely by unplugging 5 minutes, and restarting. Updating router firmware (latest version already installed and could not reinstall). Disconnecting the router, and plugging PC directly into modem (connected to Internet, but still with slow speed). Disabling Windows Firewall. Disabling all power management options, and setting devices to never sleep or shut off. Running system scan with MSE antivirus. Reinstalling the nVidia network drivers. Flushing DNS. Disabling and re-enabling network controller. Rolling back the network driver to the default Microsoft driver. Restarting in safe mode with networking (still connected, still slow). Disabling IPv4 and IPv6 large send offload in network controller. Disabling flow control and interrupt moderation in network controller. Running the "netsh int tcp set global autotuning disabled" and "netsh int tcp set global congestionprovider ctcp" commands. Running the "netsh winsock reset" and "netsh int ip reset" commands. None of the above steps have worked significantly, although it seems that my speeds are maybe 10-15kbps higher than when I started. Once again, the problem is unique to the one PC running Win7, and all other devices using the same internet connection work fine. I seem to be running out of options here, and considering I did a clean install of Win7 to begin with, I may have no choice but to format my HD and reinstall Vista if this problem is not resolved shortly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Pavan Maddamsetti

I believe NVidia NIC's are having some issues with WIn7. See this post.http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itpronetworking/thread/14fc08fb-f62b-4f86-b59f-d7a4d685b3fe

The very last post in that thread says nVidia has a fix, which is: Go under advanced settings and set "receive side scaling" to disabled. Rich
