Explorer hangs when trying to run exes and cannot delete files, computer then hangs on shutting down screen
Hi all, For some reason I've started having some trouble with my desktop. Lately it stops responding when I try to open an application, such as a downloaded setup exe or windows explorer. I've tried to delete files after this occurs and the delete window hangs on "preparing to delete". The icons of these exes also appear to turn into blank pages as well, though that hasn't happened lately. I try to restart the computer after this occurs and it just hangs on the shutting down or logging off screens and I then have to do a hard reset. This only started happening more recently since I've installed and starting messing around with Minecraft. I also checked the event viewer just to see if anything came up and this is the only one that came up repeatedly: Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected. Any help figuring this out would be appreciated, thank you./

To me it sounds like you have malware. I would run a virus scan and download Malware Bytes from the following link and run it: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol;1 If it is purley a browser issue try booting into safe mode and dowloading the new IE.

Thanks, I'll try that out, but I should note that its not an IE problem, it's something to do with explorer.exe and opening .exe applications. I'll update if anything happens.

Hi, Since it occurred lately, you could perform a system restore to resolve it. In the meantime, to uninstall the related program and check it again. (Control Panel\Programs and Features) If the issue persists, you may perform an In-Place upgrade to fix the issue: How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2 After these operations, to scan system and remove malware in time.
