Explorer hangs if network drive is offline

Hi,

this is a problem I'm experiencing for quite a while now and I was wondering if there is any solution available.

I have some network drives that are often not available (the PC sharing them is in sleep state) and whenever this is the case and I open the explorer the window just stays blank for a long amount of time before I can use it (and the drives are marked as offline). Is there a way to reduce the timeout or any other way to solve this issue?

Regards,

Hidden

use process monitor to determine this issue

is there any .exe installation shared inside that network drive?

I suggest also scan your PC to isolate malware issue

Hi Hidden,

The main issue is that the mapped network drive will be offiline, right?
Did the mapped network drive work well before? Can we get into the shared folder by the IP address when the mapped network drive is offiline?

We can try the following steps to have a check.
1.Run "net config server /autodisconnect:-1" to disable the autodisconnect feature.
2.Disable the power saving of the network driver.
Open the device manager, navigate to the network adaptor, right click it.Choose "Power Management",uncheck"Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power".
3.Run the following command line to reset the TCP/IP stack.
ipconfig /flushdns (Clear the dns cache)
nbtstat -RR (release and refesh NetBIOS names)
netsh int ip reset (reset ip settings)
netsh winsock reset (Reset Winsock Catalog)
Reboot

Best regards
