Explorer: opening a ZIP file on a network share is painfully slow
I have a few ZIP files on a network share (located on my Windows Home Server machine) of around 6MB in size (quite small). Here is what happens:
1) I double-click on a ZIP file -- the mounse pointer changes to a "spinning wheel" for just about 2 seconds, then absolutely nothing happens (PROBLEM #1)
2) I double-click on a ZIP file again -- the mouse pointer changes to a "spinning wheel", and the green progress bar appears.
3) While the progress bar is slowly going up for about a minute, the network is at~1MB/s down and ~50KB/s up (PROBLEM #2)
4) Eventually, after about 1 minute, the contents of the ZIP are shown, and browing the ZIP is reasonably fast after that.
Re-opening the same ZIP file the second time is usually instanteneous (it may be cached somewhere). Still there are two apparent problems. Any comments?

Hi,You say (problem #1) nothing happens. Are you sure about that? Did you use taskmanager or sysinternals process explorer to check whether it really stopped working? What I mean is by double clicking a second time, you may have launched the same process twice, which will definitely not improve the speed.RegardsRem
