Explorer.exe does not initialize properly
When I start up my PC I get the following error message:"Explorer.exe Application ErrorThe application failed to initialize properly (0Xc0000142)"My desktop then fails to load properly. If I open Task Manager though I can run Explorer.exe through that and everything then works fine. Does anyone know what's wrong and what I can do to stop having to go through this procedure everytime? Thanks. My computer is a Dell Dimension 3000, running XP. 2GB of RAM and 2.66Ghz processor.1 person needs an answerI do too

Does the same thing happen in Safe Mode? Since you can run Task Manager, you can scan for malware. The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?Be sure the computer is clean:http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_MalwareMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
