Experiences with Roaming profiles and Folder redirection
Hi, I have 2 sites connected through a VPN tunnel. There is ~20 users (many of them are mobile users with laptops) on each site, all running Win7. On Site 1 I have a server running Windows 2008 R2. I'm analyzing the viability of deploying Roaming Profiles
with Folder Redirection to my users to store their data/profiles in the server. Got some questions: 1) Is it recommended to deploy this technology given my environment? Many of the users might be off of site and will be connecting to site 1 or 2 using a client
VPN 2) What about the performance of Windows and the applications with this technology (specially through a vpn) 3) I know Win7 has included some enhancements to this technology, including background syncing of registry file, no only during logon/off. However,
what happens when the profile data starts getting bigger and bigger as the time comes? Will the users have to wait like 10 mins to logon? If you guys have any other comments, I'll be thankful to you.

It would not be recommended in your environment. You mentioned that most of them will be offsite and connecting through a VPN. What if the place they at has a slow internet connection. This is not a good move if maximum proficiency is any concern.

Not even enabling Folder redirection of the "Documents" and "Desktop" folders with offline files enabled on both the server and the client? (just to save the important data on the server)
