Existing Windows XP wireless network and windows 7 machine
I have a windows xp pro loaded on my laptop, it is currently connected wirelessly to my network. I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on my desktop. I am hard wired into the router, but the homegroup will not even recognize my router on the windows 7 machine so I am unable to have a full network between the two machines. Any ideas on this one? They can both get to the internet.

The HomeGroup feature in win7 is designed to share files, etc. with other PCs running win7 . It won't share files between other OSs, like XP or Vista, only PCs running win7. To share files with your XP machine, you will have to use a 3rd party app.Hello! I have 3 XP pro and win7 in network.First of all XP does not understand HomeGroup.. you have to change your HomeGroup to WorkNetwork or Public to make it work.rest you might know how to i.e. giving same network names turnon discovery etc in win7.If you still can not see the XP in win7 then you need to download lltd driver http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/details.aspx?familyid=4F01A31D-EE46-481E-BA11-37F485FA34EA&displaylang=en)from MS for your XP. But then again if you have SP3 then it won't install. if this the case then following this instruction.. http://www.vistax64.com/vista-networking-sharing/173205-how-get-lltd-working-sp3-under-2-minutes-flat.htmlhope this help..

Just to point out Ido not think you understood the question.. the link you provided to hoemgroup has no use to OP... And Furthermore again I also believe you have chosen a Vague answer as an Answer for this thread.. :) Anytime you see "Moderator" or "MSFT" in the poster's title, they usually will give more generic than answers tailored to the question. This answer by Sean Zhu is a generic one. Hello! Please reply back, promptly if possible with the results to solutions to your problem! Curious about Win7 min. system requirements?
