Execute Script Before Logoff
I have a 3rd party console application that needs to shut down properly before a user logs off or shuts down. I found a link that had suggestions about where to store such a script. Can this be done in scheduled tasks, and/or in a windows service in a robust way. Or does the link have a better suggestion, and could this be automated for all versions of Windows? I can build whatever tool I need to in a vb.net console application to install something and run code. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071019032652AADMNl3

I am distributing a commercial product. Do you think this can be a reasonable solution to install on all versions of Windows, as a commercial product? Not sure if I will have the rights to do this.

Hi, Windows 7 Task scheduler hasn’t the function to run the script before log off. And in GP Editor\User Configuration\Windows Settings\Scripts(Logon/Logoff), can set logoff script for local computer. The function is also apply to Windows 7 for your link of yahoo. I don't think Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 7 Home Premium support Group Policy. So, this is definitely not something that can be implemented in a commercial product. Can you provide us with more details so as to what has to be done to ensure that the application shuts down 'properly'?Kunal D Mehta - a Windows Server Enthusiast | My first TechNet Wiki Article
