Exclamation on wireless connection
Hi, I have a small little router/adsl modem I use for my home network. The router is setup for bridged connection(for the internet) so when I connect to the router(wireless) I dont have access to the internet just access onto my home network. Now windows 7 gives me a exclamation on my wireless tray icon with a description "myroutername & no internet access" which imo is wrong because there is nothing wrong with my connection to my home network. If i then use windows PPPoE connection wizard to connect to the internet everything works fine I have internet access but I still have the exclamation icon over my wireless tray icon telling me something is wrong when in fact everything is working perfectly (except my windows updates, but that may be another matter)? Is this just a bug still to be sorted out?

Even if you have only one computer, use as a Modem/Router as a Router. Bridge might imply the Router part is disabled. The Router part has a PPPOE menu on the WAN (the Internet side). If the entries in the menu are not configured as needed the Router does not keep the Internet connection alive. More about the principle here, http://www.ezlan.net/PPPOE.html Consult your Router's manual to the way it is done on your specific Router.

This definitely looks like a bug because when I plug my network cable in with my bridged internet connection windows does not display the exclamation mark on my network tray icon. Only with my wireless connection to the router windows thinks something is wrong when in fact everything is working perfectly.
